Edie turns 3!!!

I'm a little behind again...to catch up though, Edie turned 3 on July 31! I can't believe she is such a big girl already! She wanted to have a fairy party, so that's what we did. We just kept it simple with Poppy & Tu, Uncle Todd & Aunt B, Aunt Erin, and the Sutherlands in attendance. They decorated cupcakes, had a treasure hunt and made bracelets with the jewels they found, played flash dance, and topped off the evening with playing in the sprinkler. She had a great time!

Her Major Award - the grocery cart!

Cinderella dress and accessories from Oma & Opa was another big hit!

Her request for several months was to have a Cinderella cake - didn't quite fit with the fairy theme but she loved it none the less!

The birthday fairy

I can't believe Edie is 3! She just started preschool and is going 3 mornings a week. She absolutely loves it, and stays an extra hour for lunch bunch on 2 of the days. She loves to play with her baby dolls, paint and color, play outside and especially going to playgrounds, and she loves to ride her tricycle. We may do one last semester of the music class, though I've been debating about whether or not to do it because its during Molly's nap. Edie keeps asking to go see Mrs. Sharon though so I should probably try to make it work.

Edie still has her imaginary friend Poke. She makes up little stories and things she does with Poke a lot. Yesterday she had to get all her rain gear back on and took her umbrella outside so she could bring Poke in from the car so he wouldn't get wet! She walked all the way out to the car in the rain, put her hood up and held the umbrella out next to her to keep Poke dry as they came in. :) Poke has a few friends that sometimes tag along - John and Donio. It really cracks me up that she named one of her imaginary friends after her dad!

We are working on getting her to drop the thumb sucking habit. John told her if she keeps sucking it, she will suck it off completely. And then he showed her Sadie's paws and said that is what happened to her. She is completely content with that though, and said she'd just rather not have any thumbs...so we are working on coming up with a new strategy.

Here are a few pictures of Eeds, the big 3 year old, that we took when we were down in Florida.

Molly - 4 month update

Well if one picture could sum up Molly at 4 months, it would be this one -

Thumbsucking is her thing. She started it the weekend of her baptism at about 3 months, and over the past couple weeks its developed into all thumb suck, all the time!

Molly had her 4 month check up last week. She is very healthy and happy, and weighed in at 14lbs which is 50% She was 50% for height too. She has changed SO MUCH in the past month! She's super alert, and really grabbing and playing with toys. She's pretty vocal - by this I mean lots of cooing and squealing! She started rolling on her side, and when we were in Florida she rolled over for the first time! She frequently rolls straight to her side now when I put her down to sleep, as that is her preferred sleep position - thumb in mouth as well of course!

I think she could be the world's happiest baby. She is such a smiley baby, and so happy most of the time. The exception is if you try and give her a bottle...we're still working on that. Most nights she'll sleep 10-11 hours, and she happily naps several times a day as well. Just this week she's found her feet and is completely fascinated with them!

Home Sweet Home

We finally made it home to Shalimar, Florida for the 4th of July holiday. We spent several days with Oma and Opa, and then stayed on the keep the house lively while they traveled to south Florida for a conference. Edie and Molly were both pretty good travellers for the most part. We rented a minivan for the trip and that made the travel a bit more comfortable.

We had a great week spending time with Oma and Opa, and Oma had all of the Maney family over for a family dinner one night so we could see everyone. We spend the 4th of July at the Gulfarium, followed by lunch at Fudpuckers to be true hometown tourists!
We went to the beach one day, but spent most of the time fishing off the dock and swimming at Oma and opa's beach on the bayou. We caught lots of crabs, and Edie especially loved watching the dolphins swim just off our dock!

She loves aquariums!

After a long afternoon of swimming! She loved playing in the sand on Oma's beach, but really got into swimming with her swim vest on out in the deeper water and swimming with the noodles.

Every day when waking up in the morning and after her nap, her request was to go fish with daddy! It was also a nightly tradition to get a little fishing in after dinner every night.
